Last year we spent a lot of time helping Ryu to learn all the Primary songs in both English and Spanish. This year, now that we are planning to bring two more little boys into our home from China, we will be adding Mandarin to the mix. I’v been working on Mandarin for about 6 months off and on, and I feel ready to move forward with this project. Since we’ve lived and served outside the US, (and inside the US in a non-English ward), I know it can be SO hard to find good LDS foreign language resources that are made available (eg explained) in English. I’ve included links to the LDS Primary 2017 Choose the Right songs below. The links include variety of resources that may or may not work for you – I do not have all the resources for every single song, but take a look and see if these can help!
You can see the PDFs of both the Mandarin and English Outlines below:
Just as in the English Sharing Time Outline, you can see the songs of the month listed under the month’s name (in purple). You can also see the page number of each song in the Mandarin Children’s Songbook. Note that “When I am Baptized” (May’s song) has the WRONG page number listed – the correct page number is 53 (not 73)
January: As a Child of God / 因我是神的孩子
Yīn wǒ shì shén de háizi
See the sheet music PDF in the Sharing Time Outline above, on pg 30
February: Choose the Right / 選正義
Choose the Right Sound File
Choose the Right Pinyin File
March: Stand for the Right / 堅守正義
April: Children’s Song of your Choice about Jesus Christ
Two songs that I will be teaching my son are below:
Yēsū yě céng shìgè xiǎohái
Gàosù wǒ yēsū de gùshì
Dāng wǒ shòuxǐ shí
June: Nephi’s Courage / 尼腓的勇氣
Ní féi de yǒngqì
Wǒ yuàn xiàofǎ yēsū jīdū
September, October, November and December are left blank in the outline, allowing you to have review time, and to prep for the Primary Program.
I hope these resources have helped you to either get a better grip on Mandarin yourself, to support your efforts in passing it along to your children, or been a bit of a help in your calling. I was SO grateful for those who spent the time to share resources in various languages in the past and hope these can help bring you further the spirit into you home and calling.
